On the American Continent

Michael Toni (Burkina Faso)

My name is Michael Toni and I was born in Burkina Faso (southwest of Africa) and I want to let people know about how hard is it to come on this continent.

Many people in all of Africa dream about being on this continent.  Anywhere they can be, they will enjoy it, but the question is how to get there.  This is what they got to solve and I will tell what exactly they can do for just getting here.

Whoever in all over the world would enjoy coming to United States, but I know better about the southwest of Africa because I am from there.  From what I hear and see on the TV, most of the people who want to come here don’t have anybody, no tutor.  They are coming with a fake paper.

I mean they can give their money to some people and those guys bring them the fake paper, but I also hear and see on the TV that some people apply to the consular of their country.  Once here, they are by themselves and they try to get a little job like being in the carwash, because they don’t even have any real documents, so they can’t have a good job.  So they get married with the American girls just to get at least a green card, but before getting married, some girls are going to ask you for money because it’s like a kind of business (I give this green card and you paid me).

Some girls don’t take money because they try to get a family in this kind of situation.  Sometimes that works, sometimes not.  Actually most of the people who come now are correctly in the right way, because after that knowledge of people getting in here without a real paper, the United States Immigration system put more vigilance and more security in the airports.

But some people get here with the residence visa automatically given to them, because they maybe already got their parents here or they come to go to the school, so they’re fine.

But being on this continent is easy and also difficult: I said easier because if I want to compare to my country, that’s really easy to live here than my country.  I also said difficult, because you got to get your money like how hard you work is how often you get your money.

But I still love my country. Even if my country was the last country in all of the world I will love it, because people say never forget where you are from.
