Filling the Gap: How the Immigrant Labor Force Supports the Life Science Industries throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania

May 18, 2006, Philadelphia, PA – The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians collaborated with the Life Science Career Alliance to sponsor a panel discussion on the vital role of immigrant employees in the healthcare industry.  Four expert panelists gave brief synopses on the prominent role of healthcare and related industries in the Philadelphia region, the need for increasing numbers of a well-trained and educated workforce, currently existing education and training programs, and funding opportunities.  Guests from local community organizations, universities, and healthcare organizations engaged in a highly critical and thoughtful discussion that laid the groundwork for further collaboration via additional dialogue and coordinating of services.
