The War for Talent

Description: NAAAP Philadelphia and the Harvard Business School Club of Philadelphia will be conducting a resource round table entitled, "Is the 'War for Talent' Still Relevant in 2010?" on Thursday, March 18. The event aims to discuss the relevancy of the “war for talent” in this economy and connect companies who plan to hire in early 2010 to talented and experienced job seekers.

Over 15 weeks, Citizenship Lancaster covers all of the American history and civics questions on the exam. Not sure how much to charge for your products? Learn how to price your agricultural products for wholesale and retail markets based on labor inputs and costs.

Free Volunteer Income Tax
Location: Delaware Chamber of Commerce, 602 E. Baltimore Pike, 2nd Floor, Media, PA 19063

Description:
PathWays PA is scheduled to prepare tax returns at the Chamber. Their goal is to help individuals take full advantage of the credits available to working people when they file their taxes.
The best opportunity is the Earned Income Tax Credit, a tax credit given to people earning less than $48,000 a year. EITC limitations and maximum refunds have increased for 2009, and a tax filer with three qualifying children may now be eligible for a refund of up to $5,657 through the EITC alone.

Appointments available from 12:30 - 4:30 PM and are approximately 1/2 hour each.

Public Hearings on School Violence
Location: Myers Recreation Center, 58th Street & Kingsessing Avenue

Description: The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations (PCHR) is holding public hearings to hear from students, parents, faculty, police, community members, and youth-service organizations about race and violence in Philadelphia’s public schools.

Hearings will focus on violence motivated by race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation.

Your testimony will help us to create a report with recommendations to be submitted to the School District.

Persian Dance -- One Book One Philadelphia 2010
Location: Independence Branch Public Library

The art of Persian or Iranian dance comprises a variety of styles performed by people of different regions in Iran including:Bandari, Kurdi, Tehrani, and Turki.
These dances are based on delicate hand and gentle upper body movements combined with subtle facial expressions. Persian dance tradition has largely been maintained in private homes. The dances are taught by family members to provide family entertainment.

The Rangeen Kaman Group has performed at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and has also been featured on NBC television.

UCD Sustainability Workshop Series
Location: Free Library Walnut St. Branch, 201 S. 40th Street. (40th and Walnut St.)
Time: 3pm- 4pm
Description: The representative from the City of Philadelphia's Commerce Department will be presenting information and applications for the new GreenWorks Small Business Energy Efficiency Rebates.
The workshop will also touch on the upcoming rate increases from PECO and some of PECOs programs to help reduce energy costs through rebates and credits.
You will learn:
-simple energy-saving ideas
- how to search for the lowest cost energy suppliers that compete with PECO for business.
-an overview of commercial energy audits and how the information from audits can be used to reduce your energy bills.
- what funding is available for business owners at the City and State level to leverage your investment, as well as information about tax credits for business owners.
-These grants will reimburse business owners for up to $10,000 of energy efficiency improvements to their businesses.

Workshops are open to all University City residents.
